The quarry is located at the foot of the Javoří Mountains 5 km northeast of Broumov at an altitude of 500-582 m above sea level. The diversity of its flora and fauna is influenced by, for example, alkaline bedrock, diverse habitat conditions, shallow rocky soil, penetration of forest species from the surrounding area, the south to southwest slope of the quarry walls or the inversion effect, which makes the upper parts of the quarry warmer than the lower parts. Mining creates exposed rock surfaces and, in turn, gives way to forest cover, including valuable beech forests. The extracted areas are sensitively reclaimed, leaving the rock steps. They are cleared of woody debris so that suitable rock steppe habitats are not lost. There is space for wetland organisms in the pools at the foot and vegetation and sediment is regularly removed. The slopes around the quarry have various wet meadows. Small areas of grassland within the quarry area are mown mosaically. In the wider area around the quarry there are mostly spruce forests, or mixed or beech forests.
