Loam quarries

The clay pit at Jaroměř region (Velký Třebešov) has been used as rubbish deposit. Since 2010 it is a locality of the rare tiger beetle Cylindera germanica.

Loam quarries Úhřetice - Tuněchody

The abundant population of the rare oil beetle Meloe scabriusculus at the claypit between Úhřetice and Tuněchody is unique in East Bohemia.

Sand quarries

Forests on the margins of mining area which are stressed by wind and sudden sunshine host for example jewel beetles and longhorn beetles. Predatory robber flies seek prey from sunlit pine trunks.

Marokánka sand quarry

In addition to the typical insect species associated with sandy habitats, rare migrants such as the Geometrician moth (Grammodes stolida) and recently spreading species such as the Praying Mantis were also found in the Marokánka sand quarry. This was the first place with recorded occurrence of Praying Mantis within the context of Hradec Králové region.
